I haven’t been on YouTube a lot lately so I’m trying to get caught up on your videos. Lol! I want the MMSS when I can afford it. How hard would it be to find it one piece at a time reasonably priced?

  5. TurtleWolf Pack on November 21, 2020 at 3:43 am

I really dont mind the American MSS, I was gifted one last year after I sold mine and I have since purchased a second patrol bag. They are a good bag but in all honesty the bag Ive used the most these past three years is the Naturehike lw180. My cold weather sleeping bag is the Canadian system which is second to none for cold weather. But in all honesty Im maybe not the best person to suggest sleeping bags as Ill grab my Russian greatcoat as a blanket as often as I can and bush it old school just because.

Thanks for the info Kory. I have the M.S.S. system also, love it but it’s very heavy except for the patrol bag(If you’re trying to pack it in a backpack). From your videos I can see that it gets damn cold there in Minnesota. I live in Michigan which can get brutally cold in the fall, winter and even spring! although it seems you guys get even colder than us in the winter. I remember a few years back in the winter it was -40 below here. What sleeping bag do you use in the winter? love the GI Patrol bag, like you said, there’s actually room to move around in it even though it’s a mummy bag and I like that you can actually move your feet, it’s not so tight at the bottom like a lot of mummy bags. Also, I myself am a "Cold Sleeper" I need lots of warmth even if I’m in a tent. Can’t really afford a down bag costing over $300 to save on weight and would always be worried about getting it wet somehow and rendering it useless when I need it the most. Have you ever taken the M.S.S. Patrol bag out in the dead of winter and maybe just added a liner and wore some heavy thermals, etc. to make it work?

I’m looking for a 3 season bag (lowest temps about 20 degrees F), kind of an in-between of a mummy and rectangle style, that’s under 3lb packed and under $100. Does such a bag exist? lol. I’m leaning towards the Outdoor Vitals. I’m not very tall, but I’m a bigger girl with wide hips and I need some room to roll around. Thanks for the reviews! I really like how you put the prices underneath when you were talking about each bag.

Durability means a lot to me, snaggy zippers are a no go as well.

Would it be dangerous to use a mummy style bag in a hammock? What would your recommendation for a hammock sleepong bag be.

Great video I also have the tnh outdoors sleeping bag and I actually cold tnh outdoors and told them that my bag didn’t even meet the measurement listed and they told me that all it was a flaw in my bag but because I didn’t have the receipt there wasn’t nothing they could do

  16. The Crow Flies on November 21, 2020 at 3:59 am

see I have some serious issues with sleeping bags. I have very broad shoulders and that is a huge issue with them. Also if I get the bigger bag it puts on too much weight for me to be able to carry well. It makes it very hard.

thx4 sharing info. thumbed up / enjoyed.. i’m not nuts about confined space mummy sleeping bags personally. i don’t care to be confined that much. i have a good military bag (dunno cold rating) and i carry wool blankets. that’s all i personally need for myself. plus i live in N. texas. it gets cold here in northern part of texas, but not like it does in MN. i’ve been out in +10 weather and i was fine at night. i also have a military bivy and forget getting cold in that.

I have a few bags one for me never used yet it’s a coleman I think 5 at yard sale new but it’s got a stain being rolled up never open since I got it few years ago. But it will be great as a bottom cause I’m big guy I prob won’t use being I can’t have nothing tight on me well around me due to my pain from someting touching me. So I’ll have to have 2 if I ever need one. So praying never get that cold. Sadly if I don’t get me a good deal on electric blanket didn’t get no deal this spring none left. But I’ll have to use my sleeping bag the best I can next winter. But luckily only 3 months. But great review. Ide love to find one that’s not to heavy and keep me warm weather I’m in my house or truck or camper. The only thing I don’t like about them Ive never found one to use we’re I could cover my head and almost mommy inside. Well not 20 plus years ago never had one. Haven’t tried in over 20 years thanks for sharing. God bless
